The clients approached John West Stoddard, Inc. to design a lakeside retreat for retirement and visits from their children and grandchildren.  Anchored into a site with a gentle slope, the house draws inspiration from mid-century modern homes of the past.

Key elements to the look are clerestory windows, cantilevered steel beams, low-sloped metal roofs, and a simple yet sophisticated material palette.  The use of painted brick on the front of the house gives added texture and rhythm to the massing.
